the belief that humans are the only intelligent life in The Cosmos, that it has always been this way, and that it shall remain as such until the end of time. This belief and its related concepts hold significant consequences in Astronist eschatology and for how Astronism is compared to other religions, especially those religions whose belief systems rely upon the accuracy of desolationism.

ORIGINS AND ETYMOLOGY
Astro-English: from Astronese, the word desolation is used in the context of the debate on extraterrestrial life’s existence in Astronism to denote “a cosmos without life except that on Earth”, hence to conjoin the suffix -ism denoting “a belief held” to this word the resulting meaning is “one’s belief that no other life expect that of the life on Earth exists in The Cosmos.”
